I ride a bike as my primary means of transportation. As a bicycle advocate I need your help. A local bike shop, Mock Orange Bikes, is having a contest and the winner gets a nice Bianchi Milano Bicycle. The contest is part of the national bike to work week.
To participate, I posted a picture of myself riding to work with an explanation of why I ride. The competition consists of getting Facebook “likes.” Those are the little “thumbs up” for content that you like. Only likes on the MOB fan page count in my favor. The post on the MOB fan page with the most likes wins. You can only vote once; I need your vote. I also need your help getting the word out, to give your friends an opportunity to vote.
No matter if I win or lose, I think the competition is great for bicycle advocacy. If you don’t use Facebook you can’t vote, but you can spread the word. The contest is over this Friday the 26 of May. I have a strong chance of winning but I can’t win without the support of a social network that is willing to stand up and vote for a good cause.
You might be thinking, “That guy does not need a new bike,” and you would be right. But as an advocate, my plan is to ride the new Bianchi Milano and pass my current bike along to someone in need of transportation. In this equation, access to bicycles for transportation has a net gain.
I decided to post a visual instruction about how to vote, because I have been getting feedback that this voting process is not straight forward. I have some stiff local competition, so your work helping me spread the word is much appreciated. Check back on the MOB fan page to see how I stand on number of “likes”, because the contest thus far has been neck and neck.
Thanks for playing with me and be sure to “like” my post on the MOB fan page!
