I got this bike for my friend Doug a few years ago from the Clean Machine.  Recently he was ready to be rid of it.  I like this bike for it’s commuter sensibilities (it can accommodate fenders and is a beater; scored it for $100).  For my birthday I got fenders, and on the first rainy day afterward I was in hog heaven until I hit a grate, which did a number on my rear wheel.  Enter our friend Jorge, who is also a bike lover.  He had a set of wheels that he graciously gave me.  The only trick was that their axle was too narrow for my chain stay.  Jorge came to the rescue again with an article on how to reset steel frames, and that is how you see the beautiful, fully-functioning bike above.  God is good.

  2. Hi Phil! The bike looks great and I am so glad you were able to get them to work on your frame. You certainly showed resourcefulness and ingenuity. I do miss seeing you and my other friends from Wilkes I was blessed to get to know. Many happy and safe rides to you!
