Melissa and I have enjoyed being more cognizant of our natural surroundings since returning from out AT trip earlier this spring. You would have to have your head in the sand not to notice the cicada invasion we have been experiencing in Wilkes. We were a little oblivious to how much noise these things could make till now. While riding bikes, we accidentally mistook their buzzing for a bunch of power lines!
A friend from our church did a story ( follow this link to learn more about how this bumper 17 year crop of cicadas). The map below is from the article, the map appeared in the Patriot Journal but they didn’t get it up on their web site.

I included this image of a Cicada husk because I treasure a memory of my father placing these on his nose to shock and impress me.

Hey, please fix the “bug’ with our mail ASAP.

Hey guys
First- I was awesome seeing you two this weekend at Nick and Sara’s wedding
What a treat! Especially since we learned some new dance moves from you guys
Second- This picture gives me the heebeegeebee’s
( Don’t know how you spell that-. When I scrolled down and saw it, I made a funny “yeash” noise that had Brian laughing out loud.
Miss you both. We should make it a point to see each other more often than special occasions…although as busy as we all seem to be these days, I’ll take what I can get
Hugs!

dude– that’s what we thought — that it was the sound of some electrical shortage or something — when we were in Asheville two weekends ago. we took a nap, sprawled out on the grass at the Folk Art Center on the Parkway, and dozed off listening to them… and swatting them off!
