Andrée Seu is a Christian essayist who writes for World magazine. Her words in her book of essays, Normal Kingdom Business, in the essay, “Next Tuesday,” have touched both of us this week. This is a shortened version of some of what she writes: “Starting next Tuesday I’m going to praise the Lord like gangbusters. That’s when my meeting in Harrisburg is over and I can exhale. How wonderful it will be then, the white-knuckling behind me and the joy in Christ before me. For now, I need to worry….So pray excuse me from the banquet of His joy: ‘I have bought a field, and must go out and see it…I have bought five yokes of oxen and must go examine them. No. This nonsense stops today. Not ‘I’ll rejoice someday,’ but ‘I’m rejoicing now.’ Not, ‘I will trust someday,” but ‘I am trusting now.’”
Why does it take so many versions of this lesson to learn the skill of trusting in God? He gives us countless opportunities daily to trust him, yet we continually fail to do so, in big things and little things! Lord we do trust Your plan for our lives, in the big events and the little details.
God has given us some good time to bond together lately, such as a Christmas party at a dump where people actually live, scrounging for food and recyclable things to make a small living! ( we hope to post a couple pictures soon) The most eye-opening Christmas party I have ever been to, certainly! It was a touching experience to be around the extremely poor people, whom Jesus loves so much. Lord let us love better!
